ECOPLUS glass columns are multi-purpose columns for almost all types of liquid chromatography applications (pressure limit: 1.5–8.0 MPa). These columns are available in two forms: AB (aqueous buffer) for aqueous buffer and cold room applications and SR (solvent resistant) for separations involving organic solvents.
With a choice of adjustable-length plungers at each end and a totally inert triple chevron sealing system, the SR versions support the complete spectrum of applications from classical normal-phase and reversed-phase chromatography through to biochromatography.
The "Quick-Lock" connection system makes it possible to open and seal the column simply and quickly.
They are available in two forms: AB (aqueous buffer) for aqueous buffer and cold room applications and SR (solvent resistant) for separations involving organic solvents.
They are available in three forms: short, short/long, and long versions for height-adjustable plungers at both ends. Combinations suited to customer needs are freely selectable.
The "Quick-Lock" connection system, adopted at the column end, makes it possible to open and seal the column simply and quickly without tools.
Packing adaptors (optional) are available for slurry-packing. In particular, slurry-packing is most suitable for packing silica-based packing materials with small particle sizes ( ≤ 20 µm).
Packing adaptors are not suitable for elongating column length, as they are auxiliary parts developed for slurry-packing. The inner diameter of the packing extensions should be the same size as that of the column. The length of the packing extension should be sufficient to secure the volume shown below.
The column joints of the SR version are biologically inert, with variable plungers made of PTFE and sintered glass frits. (*Stainless frits are adopted in columns of ≥ 25 mm I.D.)
During purification of biologically active substances, such as proteins, biologically inert column joints can prevent the character and function of the proteins from being lost due to metal elution from joints.
An example of a standard protein separation using an ECOPLUS column packed with BioPro IEX SmartSep S30 is shown below. ECOPLUS shows good results for protein separation.
In reversed-phase chromatography and affinity chromatography, the usage of glass columns is limited by the effects of high backpressure, which depends on the particle size. ECOPLUS with a pressure-resistant design is available for separations requiring high pressures and high flow rates. In the separation that is shown below, significant time saving is achieved by high-flow-rate separation.
